FAQ

You probably have some questions for us.  Some of those questions (with their respective answers) may be found below. If you don’t find what you are looking for, feel free to shoot us an e-mail or give us a call. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.  If you found what you are looking for, give us a call anyway just to say “hey”.  We’d love to hear from you.  So call us, maybe?

Q . What are the advantages of hiring a professional photographer?

No weekend warrior, Eric is one of the lucky few whose amazing talent has carried his passion for photography into a successful business.  He has spent years perfecting his art through workshops (both local and abroad), photographic conferences and collaboration with other noted professionals.

Q .  What is your photographic stye?

There are so many misused terms of photographic styles that they are practically meaningless.  If you have fallen in love with our images, that means it’s your style.  We want to capture the real you in an unobtrusive manner, but we will also get those very important family shots that you will want to have.

Q . Will you be photographing my event?

Yes, Eric + Kerry are the photographers.  Depending on the size of your event, we might bring a third shooter, or if you book the Photo Booth Studio, we will have an extra person to operate that.  But, you will always get Eric + Kerry.

Q . Do you travel?

Absolutely.  Our passports are always ready to go.   Please inquire via the contact form above about details for destination weddings.

Q . Is Kaz Arts Photography insured?

We are properly insured to shoot in any venue.  Just so you know, photographers who can’t show you proof of insurance are not real professional photographers.

Q . What are five reasons I should hire you?

1. Because our images speak to you in a certain way.
2. You want a personalized experience and a personal connection with the artist who will work with you directly from start to finish and treat your images as if they were his own children…because actually, they kind of are.
3. You appreciate the time + care that goes into the final product.
4. You feel our product + service offerings stand out.
5. Because you get to hang out with Kerry all day.  Who wouldn’t want that?

Q . Do you shoot film or digital?

We have been shooting 100% digital for 7 years now.  Unlike most photographers just starting out, Eric has a background in film technology.  What does this mean for you?  It means he understands how photography actually works.  We also have access to many rare and discontinued film types, so if you want we can shoot part or all of your wedding on film.  It will cost more, of course, but the results will have a unique feel to them.

Q . Do you offer engagement sessions and other types of sessions?

Yes, and we strongly recommend taking advantage of them.  We offer engagement sessions, mr + mrs sessions + little black book sessions.  Click the links to find out more details!

Q . Do you take posed photos, or are all your photos candid?

We take a mix of both.  Most of our photographs are taken in a candid manner, but we know you will also want to have pictures with friends and family to mark your big day.  Kerry will help you with a list ahead of the event, and during your event she will make sure that the shots you requested are set up.  Kerry will coordinate with your family, friends, DJ and wedding planner so you won’t have to worry about any of it; you can just relax and enjoy your day.

Q . What happens after the wedding?

Unlike most of your wedding professionals, your relationship with us is just beginning.  The flowers die, the food is eaten…and what’s left…only your photographs.  The proofing, album + print process will follow.  We’ll guide you through every step of the way.

Q . Who processes your images and does the printing?

Simply, we do.  Well, actually Eric does.  A lot of photographers outsource ::cringe:: their image processing these days.  We also make all fine art print  enlargements on our 2 professional printers so that we personally control + ensure they are up to our high standards every time.

Q . How long will it take to receive the proofs?

Your proof book and online image hosting will both be available 3-4 weeks after your event.  We will send you a small selection of watermarked images for sharing on social media a week after your event.

Q . How do we create an album?

An album creation session is automatically included when you book one of our collections.  After receiving your proof book, we will schedule a time for you to come to the studio to meet with us.  Together we will go over the album options, as well as your favorite images. This is also the time when you may wish to order some enlargements for yourself or as gifts.  We have several unique options which never fail to delight your family and friends.  The gift of photographs can be an elegant, touching and treasured way to say thank you to your special people.

Q . Do you retouch?

Proofs are generally retouched for exposure + color.  For prints + album selections, we want to make sure that everyone looks their absolute best.  We will retouch the images to take out any distracting objects and fine tune the images so they appear striking and dynamic.  We also love to give an artistic flair to a select number of images so that they truly stand out as fine art pieces.

Q . Do we get the negatives?

Simply – yes. We provide a DVD Archive of your images.

Q . Can I make my own prints?

You can.  But keep in mind there is a huge difference between what you can make from a proof file on a drugstore print machine versus what we can print for you.  Through Eric’s image processing wizardry (there’s really no other way to put it), he can realize the full potential of the images both technically + emotionally.  Our prints will just look better.  And they are worth it.

Q . Do you do video as well?

We focus exclusively on still imagery.  We are happy to refer you to videographers we have worked with.

Q . I’d like to hire you, but you might be out of my budget – what can I do?

Well, perhaps one of two things.  First, we offer a wedding registry service.  What’s this?  You can have family + friends contribute money towards the things you would like to purchase from us.  A gift of wedding photography is more meaningful than that silver serving platter you’ll never use.

We offer an excellent a la carte menu, allowing you to pick and chose what is most important to you.

Have a unique wedding planned?  If you’d like to consider submitting your wedding to a magazine (we love to seeing our work in print) we would be happy to discuss the possibility of working something out.  Let us know!

Q . Ok, so how do I hire you?

Easy.  Use the contact form above to set up an in-studio appointment or just give us a call at 973-879-9885.  If you are not local, we can Skype too!

A signed contract + 50% retainer are required to hold your date.  Dates are filled on a first-come basis.  Remember, some prime dates are booked as far as two years in advance!
